MP Report – We are almost there

We are almost there!

Most Canadians, including millions of Albertans have received COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccine isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly recommended and is a great way to protect yourself, those you care about and our community at large. This is why I got vaccinated as soon as I could.

Vaccines are critical to helping us move past public health restrictions and ensure our economy recovers as quickly as possible.  Recent reports are showing that low vaccination rates is allowing the virus to resurge in other countries.

If you have not already done so, please consider getting vaccinated as soon as possible.  If you have concerns about the vaccines, please talk to your doctor before making any final decision not to get vaccinated.  Data is showing overwhelmingly that those who are vaccinated are rarely hospitalized and have almost eliminated their chances of dying from COVID-19.  Only one half of one percent (0.5%) of new cases are seen in fully vaccinated Canadians.

While vaccination rates in Canada are leading the world, medical experts emphasize that the battle against this virus is not over and we need to increase our national vaccination rate further to prevent another wave.  Please consider doing your part if you have not already.

If you have been vaccinated – thank you!

To find out more about the vaccines and how they were approved, please visit www.canada.ca/covid19.

The four vaccines approved for use in Canada – Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) and AstraZeneca’s Covishield – are proving to be both effective and safe.  So far, only 0.005% of people have had a serious reaction to their vaccination.  It goes without saying that your chances of death or injury from many other ‘normal life activities’ is much, much higher.

To book your vaccine appointment, please book online at ahs.ca/covidvaccine or call 811.  Many clinics are moving to a drop-in model that means you do not even need to book an appointment ahead of time.
